WE CAN BE HEROES
‘We Can Be Heroes’ is a 320 page labour of love. It was based on 500 photographs I had taken in my youth in the nightclubs of London in the early 80’s. It’s the insiders tale of this highly creative scene that would impact on music, fashion, self identity and beyond.
I persuaded Boy George, Steve Strange and Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet and to write forewords and commissioned Chris Sullivan to scribe a worts and all text. The broadcaster Robert Elms wrote the introduction. I designed it and interviewed 60 of the leading protagonists that went onto influence popular culture of today.

We Can Be Heroes was first published by Unbound Publishing via crowd funding in 2011 with all 2000 copies selling out immediately. In recent years it has been selling on eBay and Amazon from between £150 and £600 a copy. It is now being re-published to go with the Design Museum‘s ‘Blitz: The Club That Shaped The 80s’ Exhibition priced £39.95. They are only printing 1500 copies which will sell out. You can buy it now from the Design Museum
